Can I use the products on Cat and other Pet or animals?
Permethrin is harmful and toxic to Cat as cat's liver could not breakdown the chemicals. So never use it on cats. However it is safe for cat to walk on the surfaces that have been treated with Permethrin after it has dried off.
Permethrin is generally safe on horses, cattle, sheep and livestock. If you are not sure please check online or seek advise from your vet accordingly.
Can I use the product on human as an insect repellent?
No. The NT-Tix, NT-Tix+ and NT-Pest+ products are not meant to be used directly on human. (Permethrin will breakdown within several minutes when applied on human skin)
However the products can be used to pretreat clothing to repel insects as well as being used on external surfaces such as camping tent, mosquito net etc. [Permethrin is used by armies to pretreat their uniforms before they go for jungle exercise. To pretreat your clothes, spray evenly on the external side and leave it to dry]
Is the NT-Pest products safe to children?
The NT-Pest range of products is safe to children as the level of toxicity is low and when it is completely dried. Just ensure that the children are not exposed to it during application.
Is Permethrin likely to contribute to the development of cancer?
Permethrin was classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as "not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans" in 1991. This means that IARC could not decide whether or not permethrin can cause cancer.
The U.S. EPA decided that permethrin was "likely to be carcinogenic to humans" if it was eaten.
How often should I reapply the product to prevent infestation and for preventive?
The NT-Pest product will form a waterproof coating when dried and the effect generally can last between 3-4 weeks*. Treat at least a 2nd to 3rd time at 2-3 weeks apart to ensure sufficient coverage to break the insect life cycle (flea has a life cycle of between 2-7 weeks depending on the environment).
* It's effect will deteriorate when exposed to sunlight and when oil/wax stripping shampoo is being used.
I have used it on my dog but why didn't the tick died immediately?
Tick is among one of the most hardy pest due to its thick shell. As long as it has contacted the NT-Pest solution, it will be a matter of time it dies off (generally within 2 hours and sometime could be longer). Our formulation is veered on the safe side with just sufficient concentration for it to do its job to minimize the toxicity exposure for both the pet and human. We believes products that showed immediate knockdown effect might be veered on the higher toxicity side and could be more harmful than good. So just be careful you might be getting more (toxic) than what you have bargained for.
In some rare cases the tick might have developed resistance against Permethrin that rendered it to be ineffective.
Is it safe for my Dog to lick it?
The product has a bitter taste so we believe your dog wouldn't want to lick it again after the one or two times. The small amount that gets in is well within the safety limit and it will be broken down by the body internally.
Does NT-Pest Products has any odour?
The product will not leave any smell once it is dried.
Is the Odour safe?
The hydrocarbon solvent used is only a small amount and does not pose a danger if not inhaled directly over a prolong period. We could have formulated using a totally odorless solvent but being a responsible vendor we have decided against it with the end user's interest in mind. The reason being without any smell one might be happily over exposing oneself over a prolong period and inhaling a great amount of the hydrocarbon solvent without realising it. When one finds the odor unbearable after awhile it is a signal that it is time for you to stop and move away.
Do note that all solvents are toxic and harmful when inhaled over a prolonged period. Almost all chemical based insecticide/pesticide will need solvent as an emulsifying agent and those that are odorless may actually be doing you more harm than good.
What is the difference between NT-Tix, NT-Tix+ and NT-Pest+, and how do I decide when to use these?
The differences between the 3 products is in the ingredients used and the concentration. NT-Tix contains only one active ingredient - Permethrin.
Whereas NT-Tix+ and NT-Pest+ contains both Permethrin and Methoprene. Between the two, NT-Tix+ has more Permethrin (than NT-Pest+) while NT-Pest+ has more Methoprene (than NT-Tix+).
NT-Tix is recommended for preventive application where the Pet is not presently infested with tick/flea/mite and for treatment if it is only a very light infestation (2 or 3 ticks/fleas/mites found).
NT-Tix+ is recommended for treatment when the infestation is quite serious and under such situation there is a high possibility that the flea/mite migh have layed eggs on the pet. That's where the methroprene comes into action to disrupt the young from growing and prevent infestation.
NT-Pest+ is recommended for use on the quarters and the surrounding environment of the pet when there is serious infestation. Pet mostly is infestd with tick/flea/mite from their surrounding environment. Therefore in such instance there is a high possibility that the insects could have infested its surrounding and is breeding and laying eggs. Therefore it is highly recommended to apply Nt-Pest+ on their surrounding in conjunction with NT-Tix+ on the pet's body to effectively prevent any infestation.
