CAUTION: When using for the first time apply on a small area and wait for about half an hour to observe. Stop using if allergic reaction or sympton appears. Given that people and especially the children is in close bodily contacts with the pet, it is therefore of utlmost importance that the chemical used is safe on human - has been widely researched, tested and documented. It would be better if it has been approved to be used on human directly or on things that human comes into contact directly with (foodstuff, drinking water etc).
The last thing you would want is to apply toxic insecticide/pesticide chemicals on your pet and be contaminated indirectly through cuddling, holding and rubbing it's fur, and ultimately harming the pet directly, and while intoxicating yourself, your children and the family.
Permethrin and Methoprene are two most widely used, researched, tested and documented pesticide and IGR chemicals.
PERMETHRIN

Act as a neurotoxin to pests and kills a broad range of insects and arachnids on contact.

It is the very few pyrethroid chemical pesticide that is approved by WHO for medical use on human for treating scabies.

It is widely used by the British Army and the US Army has been using permethrin to treat their combat uniform for more than 20 years to protect their soldiers from harmful insects and pest in the field (read more about it here). It is the only pesticide approved by US EPA for such use.

Permethrin is also widely used for treating mosquitoes net for repelling insect/mosquitoes.

Permethrin has little systemic absorption, and is considered safe for topical use in adults and children over the age of 2 months. It will be deactived completely in about 20 minutes when applied on skin (and why it should be applied on clothing & fur of pets).
